Between June 24 and July 2, our team of specialists successfully completed the calibration of bulk liquid storage tanks in the cities of Arica, San Antonio and Punta Arenas.

In Arica two new tanks were calibrated for the storage of Asphalt, a key product for street and highway infrastructure, among other uses. This product is of high density and is stored at 140 °C, which raises some additional peculiarities in the Calibration Table development process.

In San Antonio a tank for the storage of Sulfuric Acid was calibrated. Apart from its corrosiveness, this product is characterized by its high density (1.83 kg/l), which implies that the hydrostatic pressure exerted by the product on the walls of the tank is greater than that of other bulk liquids and It produces an expansion of the tank that increases its volumetric capacity (also depending on the wall thicknesses and liquid height) and must be calculated accurately.

In Punta Arenas the calibration of a tank for the storage of Diesel Oil was carried out, in the Cabo Negro area. In this case, when developing the Calibration Table, it must be taken into account that the storage temperature in this area can drop to 5°C (or less), so it is important to take into account that the tank will experience volumetric contraction. when in service, since the calibration table is developed for a higher temperature than indicated. That is why, as part of the information provided along with the calibration table, a table and the formula to calculate the Tank Wall Temperature Correction Factor are included, an essential parameter in the associated calculation process. to tank measurement.
