BZ in Action! Floating Roof Tank Calibration in Quintero

This week, at BZ Consulting, we calibrated a large floating roof tank in Quintero. With a diameter of 69 m and a height of 19 m, its capacity reaches 64,000 m3, its size presents a challenge for any calibration process:

Operational challenge: This tank also has an additional peculiarity: it has an exterior coating, which makes it impossible to measure the outer perimeters, as well as the perimeters from inside the tank, except for the lower ring (as the roof is 2 m above the floor).

Solution: We positioned our Laser Total Station on the floating roof, choosing a point with maximum stability to measure the inner perimeters of the upper rings with complete accuracy.
