Technical Talk on Tank Calibration in ENAP Refineries: Best Practices for Custody Transfer and Loss Control

In September, we held a talk on the Calibration of Cylindrical Vertical Storage Tanks, aimed at professionals from the Custody Transfer and Loss Control Divisions of the Aconcagua and Bio Bio Refineries, part of the National Petroleum Company - ENAP.

During this event, we described the methodology based on the use of electro-optical instruments (Laser Total Station) and detailed the field measurement process, as well as the development of a Calibration Table, following the API 2.2A/ISO 7507-1, API 2.2D/ISO 7507-4, and ISO 7507-5 standards.

The attendees of the talk have various levels of involvement in contracting and managing these types of services, as well as in the final use of the calibration tables, which are the basis for determining volumes associated with custody transfers or inventory determination at their facilities. Participating in this activity has certainly provided them with new and improved information that will help enhance their own management processes.
